Drawing on the rhythm and repetition of its form and composed of the colors found in a small coastal town along Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit, Madre brings together a curated combination of clay bodies to create a distinctive interplay of subtle hues, organic patterns, and tactile textures.

Madre Details

Clay bodies: Stained porcelain in avocado, teal, dark leaf and sage, vivid underglazes hand-painted on red earthenware with an exposed edge.
Hardware: Your choice of 14k gold or sterling silver.
Finish: Kiln-fired, waterproof, and completely free of plastic and polymer.
Handmade: Crafted in small batches by a women-led studio in Boise, Idaho. Every charm is individually made, making each piece unique. Clay is mixed from scratch, then hand-rolled or cut from sheets of clay and hand-painted. Each metal component is hand-cut, bent, and hammered, celebrating the beauty of thoughtful craftsmanship and the subtle variations that make every piece one of a kind.

Care Instructions

Clay Care: If your piece starts to look dirty, wash with soap and water. A toothbrush with some dish soap works wonders. If you are in the wilderness, a use a biodegradable/river/reef safe soap.

Precious Metals: Our findings are sterling silver and 14k gold. If notice a tarnish, polish with a soft jewelry cloth. For a deep clean, use vinegar and baking soda. Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a ½ cup of white vinegar, add a splash of warm water, and stir. Soak your jewelry in this solution for 2-3 hours, rinse, and polish dry.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping: Please allow 2-3 business days for your order to be assembled. Each clay component of our jewelry takes at least 1-2 weeks to produce. In the case we are short one color or shape, we will reach out to you to make substitutions. Otherwise, backordered items will ship as soon as they are back in stock. You will be notified within 24 hours of your order if an item is backordered.

Returns: Any items that are broken or defective upon arrival, the defect must be reported within 5 days of receiving your order. Please email info@claybyshay.com. All other returns will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Shipping will be covered by buyers in the case of a return or repair.
